A Daily Disciple

Making disciples at home

Today's Reading

Gather the family around the table

Below is today's reading from each of our three volumes — open any one to read it together. The same day, for families everywhere.

I Volume 1

Knowing God

Month 11 · Standing Firm in a Tough World

Job Suffers and Still Trusts God

Job was a good man who loved God deeply. Then, in a single terrible day, almost everything was ripped away. Messenger after messenger ran in with worse news. His animals were stolen. His servants were killed.

II Volume 2

Following Jesus

Month 11 · The Cross & the Empty Tomb

The Road to the Cross

The journey to Calvary was a slow, painful walk through crowded streets. Jesus had been beaten through the night. The crossbeam was too heavy for His worn-out body. So the soldiers grabbed a man from the crowd.

III Volume 3

Ready to Stand & Be Sent

Month 11 · Living It Out

Nehemiah Did the Right Thing

Nehemiah was the governor of a whole region. Governors back then were allowed to take a generous "food allowance" from the people. The people paid for it out of their own pockets.

How to use it

  1. Gather after a meal — about 10–15 minutes.
  2. Read the day together; each age has its own prompt.
  3. Go in order at your own pace — you're never behind.
