A Daily Disciple

Making disciples at home

Today's Reading

Gather the family around the table

Below is today's reading from each of our three volumes — open any one to read it together. The same day, for families everywhere.

I Volume 1

Knowing God

Month 12 · On Mission & Finishing Well

Why We Wait for Jesus to Return

When Jesus rose up into the clouds, two angels stood beside the staring disciples. They made an astonishing promise.

II Volume 2

Following Jesus

Month 12 · Risen & Sending

The Beloved Disciple Was There

At the very end of his Gospel, John steps out from behind the story for a moment. He points to "the disciple whom Jesus loved." That disciple is John himself. And he says it plainly.

III Volume 3

Ready to Stand & Be Sent

Month 12 · Sent & Standing Firm

All Authority Belongs to Jesus

"Authority" means the right to be in charge. A police officer has authority on the road. Your teacher has authority in the classroom. But all of that authority is small. And it is borrowed.

How to use it

  1. Gather after a meal — about 10–15 minutes.
  2. Read the day together; each age has its own prompt.
  3. Go in order at your own pace — you're never behind.
