Our verse begins with a tiny but mighty word. The word is "Therefore." It looks back at everything Paul has said. All have sinned. We could never earn our way to God. And Jesus died and rose for us. Therefore, because of all that, something wonderful is now true: "having been justified by faith, we have peace with God." To be "justified" means God declares us not guilty. He treats us as right with Him. Not because we cleaned ourselves up, but because we trust in Jesus. It's a courtroom word and a gift word at the same time.
And the result of being justified is peace with God. Before, sin made us enemies of God. We were far away and afraid. But now, through our Lord Jesus Christ, the war is over and we are welcomed home. Notice how this peace comes. It comes "by faith." Not by trying harder. Not by being the best-behaved kid in the house. It comes by believing and resting in what Jesus already did. This is a verse worth carrying in your heart for life. When you feel guilty or distant, you can preach it back to yourself: I have peace with God, through Jesus, by faith.
Around the Table
When we trust Jesus, God is not angry with us. We are friends with Him! That's called peace.
Let's do it: Shake hands with someone and say, "Through Jesus, I have peace with God!"
"Justified" means God says "not guilty." He says it because we trust Jesus, not because we're perfect.
Let's talk: What's the difference between trying to earn God's love and trusting Jesus for it?
The word "therefore" connects this peace to the whole gospel of grace that came before it.
Let's go deeper: Peace with God comes "by faith," not by our works. Why does that matter so much?

🛡️ Defending the Faith
How do we know we really have peace with God, and aren't just hoping? Because it doesn't rest on our shaky feelings. It rests on a finished fact. Jesus really died and really rose, in history (). Our peace stands on what He did, not on how we feel today.
For Dad · Go Deeper
Many believers, and many dads, live as though they are still on probation with God. They anxiously hope their good days will outweigh their bad ones. says otherwise. Peace with God is a settled standing, not a daily score. You are already justified if you are in Christ. This is the grace-first engine of the whole Christian life. Obedience flows from being accepted, never for being accepted. So as you help your children memorize this verse this week, let it re-set your own heart, too. A father at rest in God's grace parents very differently than one trying to earn what is already given.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You that through Jesus we have peace with You. Not because we earned it, but because we trust Him. Help us rest in that peace. Let it make us kind and unafraid. In Jesus' name, amen."
Through Jesus, by faith, I have peace with God. The war is over.
