Memory Verse

📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)
Today's reading: Numbers 7–8
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 57 of 365 — gifts for the tabernacle and the lighting of the lamps.)The Heart of It
Joseph's forgiveness wasn't just words. It turned into action. He brought his whole family down to Egypt and gave them the best land in Goshen. Joseph "provided his father and brothers and all his father's household with food for their families" (). Think about that. The very brothers who sold him are now being fed from his hand, day after day, child by child. Joseph used his position and his pantry to keep his family alive. And through them, he kept the promise of God alive too. His kindness literally saved lives, exactly as our memory verse says: "to preserve the lives of many people."
calls us into the same pattern: "Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you." Real love is not just not getting revenge. It is actively doing good to people, sometimes even to people who hurt us. And notice that it costs something. Joseph shared his bread. Kindness is love with its sleeves rolled up. We don't have Egypt's storehouses, but every family has bread to share. A seat at the table. A turn with the toy. A helping hand. A gentle word. When we are kind, especially to those who don't "deserve" it, we look just like our God, who was kind to us while we were still far from Him.
Around the Table
Joseph shared food with his whole family so no one would be hungry. Sharing and helping is how we show love!
Let's do it: Find one thing you can share with a brother or sister right now, and share it with a smile.
Joseph was kind to the very brothers who hurt him — and his kindness kept them alive. Kindness can be bigger than getting even.
Let's talk: Who is someone hard to be kind to? What is one kind thing you could do for them this week?
Joseph turned forgiveness into real provision. It was costly, ongoing kindness toward the very people who had wronged him.
Let's go deeper: What is the difference between just not being mean and actually being kind? Which one does the gospel call us to?

If our family had a giant storehouse like Joseph's, who in our town or church would you want to share it with?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
Doesn't every religion just teach "be kind"? Not quite. Jesus' kindness goes further. He tells us to love and feed even our enemies, because that is how God treated us while we were His enemies (). That costly, undeserved kindness is the fingerprint of the real God on a changed life ().
For Dad · Go Deeper
It is striking that Joseph's grandest act of grace was practical. Bread. Land. Daily provision. Biblical love is rarely abstract. It shows up as schedules, money, and chores done for others. For a busy father, this is freeing. You don't lead your family in love mainly through big speeches. You lead through ten thousand small, costly kindnesses they watch you perform. The way you treat your wife when you are tired. The relative you keep helping. The patience you extend to the kid who is hard to like. That is where gets discipled into your children. Be the dad whose kindness has its sleeves rolled up.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, You have been so kind to us in Jesus. Help our family be kind and tenderhearted to one another. Help us be kind even to people who are hard to love, just like Joseph. In Jesus' name, amen."
Kindness is love with its sleeves rolled up. And I have bread to share today.
