Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 9-11
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 116 of 365 — Solomon's fame, his fading, and the kingdom dividing under Rehoboam.)The Heart of It
Jesus finishes His pattern prayer with the everyday needs of a trusting child. We pray, "Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts… And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Daily bread shows He cares about your lunch and your worries. Forgiveness shows He cares about your guilt. Rescue from temptation shows He cares about the battles inside you. Nothing is too small to bring to your Father, and nothing is too big. But here is the wonderful secret. We don't even have to pray well on our own. Paul writes, "the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words."
Stop and treasure that. Sometimes you don't have the words. Maybe you're too sad, too tired, or too mixed-up to know what to say. In those moments, the Holy Spirit Himself prays inside you and for you. He carries the groans of your heart straight to the Father. This is the Spirit-filled life. Prayer is not us climbing up to God by our own strength. It is God's own Spirit helping us from the inside. So when prayer feels hard, you are not alone in it. The same Spirit who raised Jesus lives in every believer to help us call out "Father" (). We can even ask the Father to fill us afresh with His Spirit, so our praying becomes alive and bold ().
Around the Table
Sometimes we don't know what to say to God. That's okay! The Holy Spirit helps us pray right from our hearts.
Let's do it: Put a hand on your heart and say, "Holy Spirit, help me pray!"
Jesus says we can ask God for everything. We can ask for food, for forgiveness, and for help when we are tempted. And the Holy Spirit helps us when we don't know what to say.
Let's talk: What's something you find hard to put into words? Did you know the Spirit can help you pray it?
The Spirit steps in to help us pray when we are weak. So prayer isn't just something we make happen on our own. God Himself powers it.
Let's go deeper: It's not all up to your effort or your fancy words. The Spirit Himself is praying with you. How does knowing that change prayer?

When have you wanted to say something important but couldn't find the words? The Holy Spirit helps us say to God exactly what is in our hearts.
🛡️ Defending the Faith
God's own Spirit helps us pray. That tells us the Christian faith is about a relationship, not a machine. God draws near and works within His people. This closeness is part of why so many people say prayer has changed them and their circumstances. We share that hope humbly and gladly ().
For Dad · Go Deeper
Many fathers carry a quiet shame about prayer. They feel like they're bad at it, distracted, and dry. is the gospel for that shame. Your fumbling, half-finished prayers are taken up by the Spirit and brought to the Father with "groanings which cannot be uttered." You are never praying alone. You are joining a prayer already in progress inside you. Classic Pentecostal teaching adds that we may ask the Father to fill us with His Spirit, deepening this very help (). Not for show, but for closeness and power. But remember the rule of this whole journey. Character comes before gifting. A Spirit-filled prayer life is measured less by feelings or smooth words and more by a softening heart that loves more and more what the Father loves.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You that we can bring You everything. We bring You our needs. We bring You our failures and our fears. Holy Spirit, help us pray when we don't know how. Fill us afresh today. In Jesus' name, amen."
When I don't know what to pray, the Spirit Himself is praying inside me. I'm never alone.
