Read together: John 20:30-31 & Psalm 107:8-9
30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name. — John 20:30-31
8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men. 9 For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. — Psalm 107:8-9
Memory Verse
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?””— John 11:25-26 (BSB)memorize this week
📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)
Today's reading: Song of Solomon 8; Isaiah 1-2
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. Song of Solomon ends with a love "as strong as death," and Isaiah opens by pleading with a people to come home — both pointing to the God who pursues us.The Heart of It
Tonight we look back over a whole month of wonders. We've watched Jesus reach out and make a leper clean. We watched Him hush a screaming storm with three words. We watched Him feed thousands from a boy's lunch. We watched Him open the eyes of a man born blind. And we watched Him call a four-days-dead man out of his tomb. John tells us why these stories were written down at all. "And truly Jesus did many other signs… which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name" (). The miracles were never magic tricks to amaze a crowd. They were signs. They are like signposts on a road. Every one of them points to the same Person and says, "Look! He is the Son of God, and life is found in Him."
So gather up the month in your hands and ask one question. What did all these signs show us? They showed a Jesus with power. He has power over sickness, over nature, over hunger, over darkness, even over death itself. But they also showed a Jesus with a tender heart. He touched the untouchable. He wept at a friend's grave. He cared that a tired crowd had nothing to eat. Power and tenderness together, in one Lord. That is exactly what sings about. "Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness… For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness." The right response to all these wonders is not just amazement. It is worship and thanks. The God who did all of this is good. And He is inviting your family to believe and have life in His name.
Around the Table
This whole month Jesus did amazing things. He made sick people well. He stopped a scary storm. He gave a hungry crowd lots of food. Jesus is strong AND kind!
Let's do it: Go around the circle and let each person shout out one Jesus miracle they remember. Then everyone says together, "Thank You, Jesus!"
John said the miracles were written down "so that you may believe." A miracle is like a signpost. It points us to who Jesus really is.
Let's talk: Out of all the miracles this month, which one helped you most to believe Jesus is God's Son? And why?
Notice that Jesus' signs showed both power and love. He had power over storms, sickness, and death. And He showed love by touching lepers and weeping at a grave. A god of power without love would be frightening. Love without power couldn't save us. Jesus is both.
Let's go deeper: John says these signs are written so we may believe and "have life in His name." How is believing meant to lead to life? It isn't just facts in your head. It is a changed heart.

Imagine your family made a "Wall of Wonders," with one drawing for each miracle this month. Which one would you want to draw? And where would you hang it so you'd see it every day?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
John doesn't hide that he is choosing which signs to record (). That is not the move of a myth-maker. It is the move of an honest eyewitness, selecting from far more than he could fit. He even tells us his purpose up front. So we can weigh the evidence and decide for ourselves whether Jesus is the Son of God.

A review night is more than a recap. It's a chance to help your children connect the dots into a single, settled conviction. John's word for the miracles is deliberate. It is semeia, which means "signs." A sign is never the destination. It points beyond itself. Lesslie Newbigin observed that John's signs are designed to provoke a decision. Each one quietly asks the reader the same question Jesus would later ask Martha, "Do you believe this?" Your job tonight isn't to leave your kids impressed with Jesus. It's to walk them gently toward that decision. And note John's grammar of grace. He writes "that believing you may have life." The life isn't earned by performing. It's received by trusting the One the signs reveal. It is a real faith-response that anyone may freely make. As you close out this month, name aloud the goodness you've personally seen from this Lord. Children believe in a God their father is visibly thankful for.

Let's Pray Together
"Lord Jesus, thank You for Your power over storms and sickness and death. And thank You for Your tender heart toward hurting people. We believe You are the Son of God. Because we trust You, we have real life. Make our family people who give thanks for Your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen."
Every miracle is a signpost pointing to one Person. It points to Jesus, the Son of God, in whom I have life.
