⏱ ≈ 12 min together

Today's Scripture

Read together: Isaiah 53:6

6 We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.

Memory Verse

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.Isaiah 53:5 (BSB)

📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)

Today's reading: Leviticus 1-4

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 108 of 365 — the offerings begin, picturing how seriously God takes sin and how He provides a way back.)

The Heart of It

This week we've looked at evidence: prophecies, details, and clues. But there's a danger in studying Jesus. We can know all the facts about Him and still keep Him at arm's length. He becomes like a famous person we've read about but never met. won't let us do that. Read it slowly: "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Did you catch how personal it gets? All of us. Every one. Including you. The verse isn't describing strangers far away. It's describing your own heart and mine.

Sheep wander off, not because they're rebels, but because they're easily distracted. They nibble their way into trouble. That's a gentle, honest picture of us. We drift toward our own way, again and again. And here is the wonder of the gospel. God didn't leave us lost. He laid on Jesus everything that was wrong with us. So today's question isn't "Can I prove Jesus is real?" It's "Have I let Him be my Savior?" The cross becomes good news the moment you stop saying "He died for the world" in general. It becomes good news when you start saying, "He did it for me." Evidence can bring you to the door. But only your own faith-response walks you through it.

Around the Table

Littles 5–8

Sheep wander off and get lost, and so do we! But Jesus came to find us and bring us home. He didn't just love everybody. He loves you.

Let's do it: Pretend to be a wandering sheep, then let a "shepherd" gently guide you back. Say, "Jesus came for me!"

Middles 9–11

"Us all" includes me. It's easy to know facts about Jesus without making Him your own Savior. Believing means trusting Him personally.

Let's talk: What's the difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Him?

Older 12–15

You can win a debate about Jesus and still have a cold heart. Faith isn't only agreeing the facts are true. It's entrusting yourself to the One the facts point to.

Let's go deeper: Have you personally responded to Jesus' invitation? If you're unsure, talk to Mom or Dad tonight. They'd love to help you take that step.

💬 Conversation Starter

What's something you know about but have never actually experienced? Maybe a faraway country or a famous person. How is knowing about Jesus different from knowing Him?

🛡️ Defending the Faith

The best defense of the faith isn't only good arguments. It's a changed life. When you live like someone Jesus actually rescued, people notice. And that opens the door to share why, with gentleness and respect ().

For Dad · Go Deeper

There's a quiet trap in apologetics-heavy parenting. We can disciple little debaters who can defend a Christ they've never personally surrendered to. Tonight's aim is the heart, not the head. As you lead, make space for a child to move from "my parents believe this" to "I trust Jesus myself." Make that space without pressure. In our Arminian-Wesleyan understanding, grace genuinely invites and enables a free response. It does not override the will. So don't manufacture a decision or force the moment. Instead, pray, present Christ warmly, and trust the Spirit to draw. And let your kids see your dependence. You, too, are a found sheep who still needs the Shepherd daily.

Let's Pray Together

"Jesus, I am like a wandering sheep, but You came to find me. Thank You for taking what was wrong with me onto Yourself. I don't just want to know about You. I want to know You. You did it for me, and I'm Yours. We pray this in Jesus' name, amen."

Carry It With You

"Us all" includes me. Jesus didn't just die for the world. He did it for me.
