The Heart of It

We've spent this week learning a huge truth. We are made in God's image. We matter. Our worth is a gift. The Spirit says we belong. And everyone bears God's image. Today we do the most natural thing in the world with good news like that. We celebrate. throws open the doors: "Make a joyful noise to the LORD... Serve the LORD with gladness... Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His" (). Notice the foundation of the whole song. God made us. We didn't make ourselves. We were dreamed up and shaped by a good Maker. And that's a reason to be glad, not anxious.

So this is a worship day. When we truly grasp who we are, the right response isn't pride. It isn't "look how great I am." And it isn't despair, either, or "I'm not good enough." The right response is gratitude that bubbles up into praise. ends by telling us why we can sing with such confidence: "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations" (). The God who made you is good. His love never runs out. And His truth about who you are will still be true when you're old and gray. That's worth a joyful noise.

grounds our joy not in feelings but in three rock-solid facts. God is good. His mercy never ends. And His truth lasts forever. Worship is the right response to the truth about who we are.

🛡️ Defending the Faith

People sometimes think Christian faith is gloomy or full of rules. But shows it's actually built on joy, gladness, and thankfulness, because God is good (). When we live with genuine joy, others notice. says they may even ask the reason for the hope in us. And we answer them gladly and gently.

For Dad · Go Deeper

says, "It is He who made us, and we are His." Ken Ham often points to this verse as the link between creation and worship. A right view of origins produces a right posture before God. So as you close this week, make worship the destination, not just information. Identity that stops at "I'm valuable" can curve back into self-focus. Identity that ends in praise turns the heart outward and upward, where it was designed to rest. Lead this family worship time from genuine gladness, not duty. Your children will learn that knowing who they are is meant to overflow into delight in the God who made them. A worshiping dad raises worshiping kids.
