Memory Verse
“For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”— Colossians 1:16–17 (BSB)

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 79 of 365 — the wedding supper of the Lamb.)The Heart of It
Peter gives Noah a title most of us never noticed. He calls him "a preacher of righteousness" (). For all those years of building the ark, Noah wasn't just sawing wood. He was warning his neighbors and pointing them to God. Imagine how that felt. No one believed him. No one had ever seen rain like he described. He must have looked foolish to the whole town, year after year. Yet he kept on speaking the truth in love. He left the door of the ark open right up to the end. Noah's courage didn't come from being a naturally bold person. It came from walking closely with the God who was with him. "Noah walked with God" (). Boldness for God grows out of friendship with God.
That's why our second verse matters so much. In , the early Christians were being threatened. People wanted them to stop talking about Jesus. So they prayed. And "when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness" (). Notice this. The boldness came after the Holy Spirit filled them. We don't have to manufacture courage by squeezing our eyes shut and trying hard. Jesus pours His Spirit into His people to make them brave witnesses. And that gift is for you too (; ). Maybe being "bold" for you means inviting a friend to church. Maybe it means quietly saying, "Actually, I believe God made everything," when others laugh at the idea. You don't do that in your own strength. You ask the Helper to fill you, and He gives you exactly the courage you need, right when you need it. It's always wrapped in kindness, never in showing off.
Around the Table
Noah told people about God even when no one listened — he was brave! And the Holy Spirit can help YOU be brave to talk about Jesus too.
Let's do it: Stand tall like a brave preacher and say, "God made everything, and Jesus loves you!"
The early Christians prayed. Then they were filled with the Holy Spirit. And then they spoke boldly. Boldness is a gift God gives. It's not something we squeeze out alone.
Let's talk: When is it hardest for you to talk about God? How could you ask the Holy Spirit to help in that exact moment?
Notice the order in . First they prayed. Then the Spirit filled them. And then they spoke boldly. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is power for mission, and it's available to you.
Let's go deeper: Have you ever asked Jesus to fill you with His Spirit for boldness? Where this week would you most want that courage?

When have you been braver than you expected to be? That extra courage might have been the Holy Spirit helping you.
🛡️ Defending the Faith
Think about the sudden courage of the early Christians. They were ordinary people, willing to be arrested rather than stay silent about Jesus. That itself is a clue that something real happened at the resurrection and Pentecost. Shared "with gentleness and respect" (), boldness for Christ is gentle, not pushy.

Classic Pentecostal teaching reads as a pattern, not a one-time event. Spirit-filled believers receive power specifically for witness. This is the empowering dimension of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is distinct from regeneration, and it is available to every believer, your children included. But guard the lane carefully. The aim is never hype, or performance, or spiritual one-upmanship. Character is always more important than gifting. The boldness God gives is yoked to love and "gentleness and respect" (), and it costs something. Noah preached for years to no applause. Here is the unavoidable question. Are you, dad, asking to be filled afresh for your own everyday witness, at work and with neighbors? Your kids will catch courage from a father who is visibly dependent on the Spirit, far more than from one who merely tells them to be brave.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Make us faithful like Noah, to speak Your truth in love even when no one listens. Give us bold, kind courage to point our friends to Jesus, the Maker of everything. In Jesus' name, amen."
Real boldness isn't something I work up. It's something the Spirit fills me with.
