Creation Clearly Shows God
Month 3: Creation & Science · Memory Verse
Today's Scripture
Read together: Romans 1:18-20
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.
Memory Verse
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.”— Romans 1:20 (BSB)memorize this week

Today's reading: Genesis 9-12
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (God's rainbow promise, and the call of Abram to be a blessing to all peoples.)The Heart of It
Our verse this week is one of the boldest in the Bible. God says we can learn real, true things about Him just by looking at what He made. We can't see God with our eyes. He is "invisible." But His "eternal power and Godhead" are "clearly seen" in creation. It's like the way an artist's skill is clearly seen in a painting, even when the artist has left the room. The night sky shouts that Someone is enormously powerful. A single cell is more complicated than any factory, and it whispers that Someone is unbelievably wise. Creation is like a giant signpost. And every signpost points away from itself to something else. This one points to God.
Then Paul says something that should make us gentle but serious. The evidence is so clear that no one will be able to stand before God one day and say, "I had no idea You existed." We are, the verse says, "without excuse." That doesn't mean God is harsh. It means He has been generous. He has signed His name across the whole sky, so that everyone, in every country, gets an invitation. Maybe you have a friend who says, "I don't believe in God." The kindest thing we can do is help them really look. The signs are everywhere.
Around the Table
We can't see God, but we can see all the amazing things He made — and they tell us how great He is!
Let's do it: Look out a window and name three things that say, "God is great!"
Paul says creation makes God's power and wisdom "clearly seen." What is one thing in nature that amazes you?
Let's talk: If creation is like a signpost, what is it pointing to?
"Without excuse" means the evidence for God is genuinely available to everyone. How does that shape the way we treat people who say there's no God?
Let's go deeper: Try saying today's verse from memory, then explain it in your own words to someone younger.

🛡️ Defending the Faith
When someone says, "You can't prove God because you can't see Him," you can gently reply. We believe in many real things we can't see, like gravity, or someone's love. We believe in them because of the effects they leave behind. In the same way, creation is the evidence that points to a Creator (). Always say it kindly, "with gentleness and respect" ().

teaches what theologians call "general revelation." That's God revealing Himself through creation to all people everywhere. Alongside it is "special revelation," which is His Word and His Son. Both matter. General revelation is enough to leave people "without excuse," but it is not enough to save them. For that, people need to hear about Jesus (). This guards your kids from two errors. One error thinks nature alone is enough, so why bother with the Bible? The other error thinks the unreached are simply condemned with no witness, but Paul says they have one. Help your children hold both truths together. God is fair, and He has spoken to everyone. And the gospel of Christ is the message that must still go out. That tension is exactly what fuels mission.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You that You show Yourself in everything You made. Help us see the signs. Help us follow them to You. And help us tell our friends the good news about Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen."
God has signed His name across the whole sky. His power and wisdom are clearly seen.
