We Beheld His Glory

Month 4: Is Jesus Really God? · Family Worship

⏱ ≈ 15 min together

Today's Scripture

Read together: John 1:1-14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe. 8 He himself was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9 The true Light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)

Today's reading: Exodus 5-8

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 97 of 365 — Moses stands before Pharaoh, and God's power begins to be displayed.)

The Heart of It

We've reached the end of our first week getting to know who Jesus really is. So today we worship. We don't just learn about Jesus. We lift Him up. Read again slowly, like a song. The Word who was God became flesh. He "dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth" (). John is saying, "We saw Him. We watched the glory of God walking around in a human body. And it was full of grace and truth." This week you've learned that Jesus is eternal (). You've learned that He made everything (). He forgives sins like only God can (). And the Holy Spirit shines the light right on Him (). Put it all together, and your heart should do one thing. It should bow and adore.

Worship is the natural response to seeing who Jesus is. When we truly see His glory, we don't just believe facts. We love a Person. And here's the beautiful part of : "as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God." Jesus isn't only the glorious Creator far above us. He's the Savior who lets us receive Him and become part of God's family. So tonight, let's not rush. Let's tell Jesus what we've learned about Him this week, and let's thank Him. Let's sing if we can. Let's say together one more time. The God who flung the stars into space came close enough to be received by a child. That is worth all the worship a family can give.

Around the Table

Littles 5–8

This week we learned Jesus is GOD! And He came close so we could know Him. Let's tell Him "thank You" and "I love You."

Let's do it: Sing your favorite Jesus song together. Do all the motions big and joyful.

Middles 9–11

John says they "beheld His glory… full of grace and truth." Worship means seeing how great Jesus is and loving Him for it.

Let's talk: What's one thing you learned about Jesus this week that makes you want to worship Him?

Older 12–15

says we can receive Jesus and become children of God. It's a real, personal welcome into His family for all who believe.

Let's go deeper: What does it mean to you that the eternal Creator made a way for you to be His child? Let that lead you into honest worship tonight.

💬 Conversation Starter

Go around the table. In one word, who is Jesus to you after this week? Is He your Creator? Your Savior? Your Lord? Your Friend? Then say why.

🛡️ Defending the Faith

Worship is its own kind of evidence. Imagine someone who doubts watching a family genuinely love and adore Jesus. Not out of fear, but out of joy. It raises a real question they can't ignore. What did they see in Him? Lived worship can speak louder than any argument. So offer it "with gentleness and respect" ().

For Dad · Go Deeper

This week your family has handled some of the strongest reasons to believe in the deity of Christ. You covered the trilemma, His authority to forgive, and the witness of the Spirit. But information is not the destination. Adoration is. The aim of all good theology and apologetics is doxology, which simply means worship. Dads, beware the trap of treating Jesus only as a position to defend. He is first a Person to enjoy. Tonight, let your kids see you worship. Don't perform. Genuinely adore the Christ you've been studying. When children watch their father moved by the glory of Jesus, "full of grace and truth," they learn that this faith isn't just true. It's treasured. Close the week by leading them past simply concluding "Jesus is God." Lead them to say with full hearts, "and I love Him." That is the difference between a defended doctrine and a captured heart.

Let's Pray Together

"Father, we see how glorious Jesus is. He is eternal. He is our Creator. He is our Savior. He is fully God. We receive Him. We worship Him with all our hearts. Thank You for making us Your children. We pray this in Jesus' name, amen."

Carry It With You

Knowing Jesus is God should lead my heart to one place. It should lead me to worship.
