Right before the warning in verse 8, Paul tells us the secret to standing firm. Be "rooted and built up in Him." He paints two pictures. First, a tree. A tree doesn't fight the wind by tensing up.

Paul gives us a phrase today that gets right to the heart. Do your work "not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God" (v. 22). "Eyeservice" is a great word.
