Read together: Colossians 2:6-7 & 1 Peter 3:15

📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)
Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 12–14
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 329 of 365 — Paul on spiritual gifts and the more excellent way of love.)The Heart of It
Almost a whole month ago we started asking a big question. How do we keep loving and following Jesus when the world around us pushes the other way? Look at what we've seen. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm in the fire, because their God was real to them. Daniel "purposed in his heart" before the test ever came. Paul reasoned gently with the thinkers in Athens. Job kept trusting God even when everything hurt. Joseph ran from sin in a foreign land. Through it all, the Holy Spirit gave boldness, comfort, truth, and power. Standing firm was never about being tough on our own. It was about belonging to a God who holds us.
Today's verses tie the whole month together. Paul says, "As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him… established in the faith" (). A tree that stands in a storm has deep roots you can't see. A faith that stands in a tough world has deep roots too, deep down in Jesus. We can't always see them either. They are prayer, the Word, worship, and the Spirit's quiet work. And Peter reminds us that being ready to give an answer starts in the heart. "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts." Set Jesus apart as Lord on the inside, and standing firm on the outside will follow. Looking back, that's the whole secret. Not braver kids, but kids rooted in a real, living Savior.
Around the Table
A tree with deep roots doesn't fall over in the wind. Jesus is our roots, so we don't fall over either!
Let's do it: Stand like a strong tree. Then blow wind at each other, but keep your feet planted and say, "Jesus holds me!"
This month we met people who stood firm. The three friends in the fire. Daniel. Joseph. Job. What helped them all stand?
Let's talk: Which story stuck with you the most, and why?
Paul says we are to be rooted and built up in Jesus, established in the faith. Roots go down before the storms come. So we build our faith in the calm times to hold us in the hard times.
Let's go deeper: What is one habit, like Bible reading, prayer, or worship, that you can grow deeper roots in this week?

What was the toughest "stand firm" moment you faced this month? Did you feel God helping you?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
A faith you can explain is a faith that has been thought about, not just handed down. When we "give a defense" with reasons (), we show that following Jesus isn't a blind leap. It's a confident trust in things that are actually true. And we do it "with gentleness and respect," kindly, never to win an argument but to help a person.
For Dad · Go Deeper
Take a breath and look back over this month with thankfulness. The goal was never to raise debaters or hand your kids a script of answers. It was to help them set Jesus apart as Lord in their hearts, the way Daniel "purposed" before the test came. Roots grow in ordinary, repeated moments. The dinner you almost skipped. The prayer that felt routine. The question you didn't have a slick answer for. Don't measure the month by how polished your kids sound. Measure it by whether Christ is becoming more real and more loved at your table. And remember that you stand firm the same way they do, rooted in Him, not in your own strength. Lead from gratitude, not from pressure.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You for all You've taught us. Help our roots grow deep into Jesus. When the world pushes against us, hold our family steady. Make us gentle. Make us kind. Keep us standing firm in You. In Jesus' name, amen."
A faith that stands firm in the storm grew deep roots before the storm ever came.
