Looking Ahead: Living It Out Together
Month 11: Standing Firm in a Tough World · Family Worship
Today's Scripture
Read together: Hebrews 10:23-25
23 Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. 25 Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Memory Verse
“But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect,”— 1 Peter 3:15 (BSB)
📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)
Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 15–16
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 330 of 365 — the great resurrection chapter: "O Death, where is your sting?")The Heart of It
Yesterday we looked back at how to stand firm. Today we look ahead. And here is the good news. God never meant for you to stand firm alone. gives us three things to keep doing as we go forward. First, "hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful" (v. 23). We don't grip tight because we are strong. We hold on because the One we are holding is faithful. Second, "consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds" (v. 24). God wants us paying attention to each other, cheering each other on, nudging one another toward Jesus. And that starts right here at this table. Brothers and sisters and parents, all looking out for each other's faith.
Third, "not neglecting meeting together… but exhorting one another" (v. 25). A single coal pulled out of the fire goes cold fast. But coals heaped together stay glowing red. That's why God gives us His family, the church, and your family at home. So we can encourage each other, especially "as you see the Day approaching," because Jesus is coming back. Standing firm in a tough world is not a solo sport. We carry each other. We remind each other of the hope when one of us forgets. We worship together, we pray together, and we live it out together, all the way to the day we see Him face to face.
Around the Table
One little coal by itself gets cold. But lots of coals together stay warm and bright. God's family keeps each other warm!
Let's do it: Squeeze into one big family hug and say, "We help each other follow Jesus!"
Hebrews tells us to "stir up" each other to love and do good. How can our family help each other be brave for Jesus?
Let's talk: Whose faith can you encourage this week? A sibling, a friend, or a grandparent?
Hebrews tells us not to neglect meeting together, but to keep encouraging one another, all the more as we see the Day approaching. We need the church, and we need each other. And Jesus is really coming back.
Let's go deeper: Why is it easier to drift from God when you're alone than when you're in a community? How can you stay "in the fire" with others?

If you could pick one way our family will encourage each other's faith next month, what would it be?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
The church has held the same hope together for two thousand years. It has come through danger, through scattering, through every kind of opposition. That itself is a quiet kind of evidence. A made-up story dies out. But a living hope built on a risen Savior keeps gathering people and holding them firm (). When someone asks why you still believe, you can point to the family that faith creates.
For Dad · Go Deeper
A month on standing firm could leave a dad feeling like everything depends on him. But says the opposite. We "hold fast" because "He who promised is faithful," and we do not go it alone. So here are two practical takeaways as you look ahead. First, make gathering a priority. The regular rhythm of the local church is not an optional add-on. It is the very means God gives to keep your kids' coals glowing. Second, build a home where you "stir up one another." Make encouragement normal. Talk about faith out loud, don't just pass it down in silence. You're not raising lone-wolf believers. You're raising members of a body. Keep showing up. Keep gathering. Keep pointing them to the faithful Promise-Keeper. And let the weight rest on Him, not on you.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You that we don't stand alone. You've given us each other, and You've given us Your church. Help us hold tight to our hope in You. Help us cheer each other on to love and to do good. Keep us close until the day we see Jesus face to face. In Jesus' name, amen."
One coal alone grows cold. Together, in Jesus, we stay on fire to the very end.
