God's Glory Fills the Tabernacle
Month 3: The Great Rescue · Walking in the Spirit
Today's Scripture
Read together: Exodus 40:34–38
34 Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses was unable to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 36 Whenever the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle, the Israelites would set out through all the stages of their journey. 37 If the cloud was not lifted, they would not set out until the day it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel through all their journeys.
Memory Verse
“And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”— Deuteronomy 6:5 (BSB)

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 86 of 365 — more of the Promised Land is settled.)The Heart of It
The day the Tabernacle was finished, something breathtaking happened. "The cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle" (). God's presence came down so thick and so heavy that even Moses couldn't go inside. The tent wasn't special because of its gold or its curtains. It was special because God filled it. And from then on, His presence guided them. When the cloud lifted, they moved. When it stayed, they stayed (). Day by day, they followed the visible presence of God.
Here is the wonderful part for us today. God no longer fills a tent of cloth. He fills people. "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" (). The same glory that came down on the Tabernacle now comes to live inside everyone who belongs to Jesus, by the Holy Spirit. That's why Pentecostal believers earnestly ask Jesus to fill them with His Spirit. Not for a show or a feeling, but for His real presence and power to live a Christlike life (; ). And just as the cloud guided Israel step by step, the Spirit leads God's children today (). We don't have to guess our way through life. The God who filled the tent wants to fill you, guide you, and stay close, every single day.
Around the Table
God's shining glory filled the tent so everyone knew He was there! Now His Spirit lives inside people who love Jesus.
Let's do it: Cup your hands around your heart like you're holding a glowing cloud and say, "Holy Spirit, fill me!"
Israel followed the cloud. They moved when it moved and stayed when it stayed. How does God lead us today?
Let's talk: When have you felt God nudging you to do the right thing? That's the Spirit leading.
The glory once filled a tent. Now God says you are His temple, and Jesus wants to fill His people with the Spirit.
Let's go deeper: Have you ever asked Jesus to fill you with His Holy Spirit? You can ask Him today ().

Imagine you had to follow a glowing cloud to know where to go each day. Would that be exciting, or hard to trust? How does God lead us now?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
How do we know God still fills and leads His people? The Bible promises the Holy Spirit to all who belong to Jesus (, "to all who are afar off"). And millions of people across the world today show the proof of His work in their lives. They have new love. They have freedom from sin. They have power to forgive. We can point kindly () to that fruit. Real change like that is hard to explain away.
For Dad · Go Deeper
Classic Pentecostal teaching reads and as two ends of one glorious thread. The God who "tabernacled" in a tent now lives in and fills His people. But guard the lane carefully here, Dad. The goal of the Spirit's filling is never a spectacle or a personal upgrade. It is Christlikeness and power for witness (), with character always weighed above gifting. Reject the hype that treats the Spirit like a vending machine for blessings. The cloud over the Tabernacle was about God's presence, not Israel's prosperity. So ask yourself an honest question about your own walk. Are you leading your children by your own willpower and good intentions? Or are you genuinely seeking the daily filling and guidance of the Spirit? You cannot lead them somewhere you are not going. Ask the Father to fill you afresh tonight.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, the glory of Your presence once filled a tent. Now You want to fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Come and fill our home. Lead us like the cloud led Israel. Make us more like Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen."
God doesn't just live in a tent anymore. By His Spirit He wants to fill and guide me every day.
