Today's reading: Judges 13–15
Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 94 of 365 — Samson, gifted with strength yet ruled by his own heart.)The Heart of It
Jesus calls the Helper "the Spirit of truth" (). Then He says something almost too wonderful to believe. This Spirit "abides with you and will be in you." Stop and feel the weight of that. God doesn't just live up in heaven, or only in a church building. For everyone who belongs to Jesus, God makes His home inside, right in the heart. Jesus says it again in verse 23: "We will come to him and make Our home with him." Your heart becomes a dwelling place for God. That's not a reward for the super-holy. It's a gift to ordinary, loved children of God.
Here's why this is a "heart matter." When God lives inside you, your heart is where He works. He's called the Spirit of truth because He shows us what's real. He shows us the truth about God, and the gentle truth about ourselves. Sometimes He nudges your heart when you've done wrong. He doesn't do it to shame you, but to bring you home. Other times He floods your heart with the assurance that you are loved and forgiven. The Spirit of truth never lies to you. He never flatters you. He never gives up on you. So we learn to listen. We tune our hearts to the quiet voice of the One who lives within. And we keep the home of our hearts open and welcoming to Him.
Around the Table
If you love Jesus, God's Spirit makes His home right inside your heart. You're like a little house where God lives!
Let's do it: Knock-knock on your chest and say, "Welcome home, Holy Spirit!"
The Spirit is called the "Spirit of truth" because He always tells us what's real — about God and about us.
Let's talk: When have you felt a little nudge inside that you'd done something wrong? That can be the Spirit, gently helping you.
Jesus said God would "make Our home" with those who love Him (). The Spirit of truth convicts, comforts, and guides from the inside.
Let's go deeper: What's the difference between the Spirit convicting you (to bring you back) and just feeling guilty or ashamed?
💬 Conversation Starter
If a special guest were coming to live at our house, what would we tidy up first? God lives in our hearts. What might He want us to make room for, or clear out?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
How do we know it's really God inside, and not just our own conscience? The Spirit always points us to Jesus, and He always lines up with God's written Word (). He never contradicts Scripture. A nudge that agrees with the Bible and lifts up Christ bears His fingerprints.
For Dad · Go Deeper
Notice that God's living in us is the foundation, and obedience flows from it: "If anyone loves Me... My Father will love him, and We will come to him" (). The order matters enormously for how you parent. We don't obey to get God to move in. He moves in by grace, and a loved heart learns to obey. If your kids hear only "do better," you'll raise anxious performers. But if they grasp that the living God has made His home in them because they're loved, obedience becomes a homecoming, not a chore. Watch your own heart here too. The Spirit of truth means to lead you in gentle honesty about yourself, not crushing self-condemnation. Conviction draws you near. Condemnation drives you away. Learn the difference, and teach it.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, thank You for making Your home in our hearts by Your Spirit. Spirit of truth, show us what is real. Gently turn us back when we wander. Remind us that we are loved. In Jesus' name, amen."
God's Spirit of truth lives in me. He guides me, comforts me, and gently leads me home.
