📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)

Today's reading: Luke 22-24

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Jesus dies, rises again, and the empty tomb is found — the heart of the whole story!)

The Heart of It

Jesus once said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away" (). Stop and think about how bold that is. The mountains, the oceans, the sun and stars will one day wear out and be made new. But Jesus says His words will outlast every single one of them. Only someone who is God Himself could make a claim like that and be right. And so far, history agrees. Empires that tried to destroy the Bible have crumbled. Meanwhile the Bible has gone on to become the most copied, most translated, most read book in all of history.

This week we collected good reasons to trust the Bible. Scrolls were carefully copied and kept safe for thousands of years (Day 15). God's Word is perfect and makes us wise (Day 16). There are thousands of ancient copies that match (Day 17). It is sweeter than honey and worth more than gold (Day 18). It lights our every step (Day 19). And we share it gently, with love (Day 20). Tonight, as a family, let's celebrate together. The Book on your shelf is no ordinary book. It is the living, lasting Word of the God who keeps His promises forever.

Around the Table

Littles 5–8

Jesus said the whole world will wear out someday, but His words never will. The Bible lasts forever!

Let's do it: Hold up the family Bible together and say loudly, "God's Word stands forever!" Then cheer.

Middles 9–11

Jesus claimed His words would outlast the entire universe. Only God could say that and be right. Let's review one reason from this week we can trust the Bible.

Let's talk: Which reason from this week helped you most, and why? Think of the caves, the copies, the honey, or the lamp.

Older 12–15

People have tried to ban and destroy the Bible for centuries, yet it endures and spreads. Jesus' claim in is the kind only God could make.

Let's go deeper: If a friend asked you, "Why do you trust the Bible?" what two reasons from this week would you give? And how would you say it kindly?

Go around the table. What's one thing you learned this week about why we can trust the Bible? It's family review time, so everybody shares one!

🛡️ Defending the Faith

The Bible has been attacked, banned, and burned more than any book in history. Yet it stands, just as Jesus promised in . We don't have to be afraid of hard questions. We can answer them with confidence and kindness, exactly as says, "with gentleness and respect."

For Dad · Go Deeper

You've now spent three weeks handing your children reasons, not just rules. Tonight, gather the threads into a single conviction they can carry. The Bible is trustworthy because it was preserved, because of its manuscript evidence, and because of its unity. And above all, the risen Jesus staked His own authority on it (). But family worship is more than a quiz. It's a celebration of the God who speaks. Close the month by letting each child name something they're thankful for in God's Word, and then pray it back to Him. The aim is not children who can merely recite arguments. The aim is children who love and obey the Word, and who will one day hand the same lasting Book to their own families. Faithfulness, not flashiness, is how the Word passes from generation to generation.

Let's Pray Together

"Father, thank You that Your Word stands forever, longer than the whole world. Thank You for all the reasons we can trust it. Help our family love it, obey it, and share it with kindness. In Jesus' name, amen."

Carry It With You

Heaven and earth will pass away, but God's Word never will. And now I know why I can trust it.
