Bridge: Sent to Speak Truth

Month 7: Who Am I? · Family Worship

⏱ ≈ 13 min together

Today's Scripture

Read together: 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God.

📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)

Today's reading: Esther 1-4

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Esther becomes queen — and God positions her "for such a time as this.")

The Heart of It

This whole month we asked, "Who am I?" And we found that in Christ we become a brand new creation (). But Paul doesn't stop there, and neither should we. Read the next verses. God "has given us the ministry of reconciliation… Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ" (). Did you catch the turn? Knowing who you are is not the finish line. It's the launch pad. Once you know you belong to God, He sends you out as His ambassador. An ambassador is a messenger who represents the King in a place that isn't home yet. Your new identity comes with a new assignment. You get to help others find the same God who found you.

That's the bridge into everything ahead. For months we've been growing roots. We've been learning who God is, who we are, and why we believe. Now the devotional turns toward the fruit. We'll learn to stand for the truth and to be sent on mission. And here is the beautiful part. You don't have to be old, or loud, or have every answer to be an ambassador. You just have to be His. Esther was a young woman placed in the palace "for such a time as this" (). And God has placed your family in your school, your street, and your team for such a time as this too. An ambassador speaks the King's message with the King's kindness. We are confident, but gentle (). You've spent a month learning whose you are. Now get ready to be sent.

Around the Table

Littles 5–8

An ambassador is a special helper the king sends to tell people good news. If you belong to Jesus, He sends YOU to share His love!

Let's do it: Practice your "good news" voice. Smile and say, "Jesus loves you, and I do too!" Who could you say it to this week?

Middles 9–11

Being new in Christ isn't just for us to enjoy. God sends us to tell others. Who is one person you know who needs to hear that God made them and loves them?

Let's talk: What's the difference between bragging about being right and kindly sharing good news?

Older 12–15

An ambassador represents the King in a place that's not yet home. Knowing who you are leads straight to why you're here. Once you know your identity, you discover your mission.

Let's go deeper: Where has God placed you "for such a time as this"? Name one real spot. Maybe a class, a team, or a group chat where you could represent Jesus with both truth and kindness.

💬 Conversation Starter

If you were chosen as your family's ambassador to a brand-new country, what's the first good thing you'd want them to know about us?Now — what's the first good thing the world should know about Jesus?

🛡️ Defending the Faith

Someone might say, "Keep your faith to yourself." We can kindly explain that good news is meant to be shared. If you found a cure, you wouldn't hide it from sick friends. As Christ's ambassadors (), we get to share Jesus. And sets the tone. We are "ready to give a defense… with gentleness and respect." We are confident and gentle, never pushy.

For Dad · Go Deeper

This is a hinge night for your home. Everything we've built this month was never meant to stop with us. Image-bearing, worth, new creation, identity in Christ. It all overflows outward in mission. Watch the danger on both sides. A family can know all the right answers and never share them. That's cold orthodoxy. Or a family can rush to argue and forget kindness. That's combative witness. The cure for both is to keep the gospel central and modeled in your own life. Your kids will become the kind of witnesses you are. If they see Dad pray for a neighbor, speak gently about a coworker, and treat someone who disagrees with respect, they'll learn that being "sent" looks like love with a backbone. Before the next season of this devotional, ask the Father to make your home an embassy of His grace. Make it confident in the truth, warm to outsiders, and ready to be sent.

Let's Pray Together

"Father, thank You for making us new in Jesus. Now make us bold and kind ambassadors who carry Your good news everywhere You send us. Use our family for such a time as this. In Jesus' name, amen."

Carry It With You

Knowing who I am is not the end. It's the start of being sent to share Him.
