Today's reading: Esther 5-7
Esther bravely steps before the king, and a wicked plot begins to unravel — God protects His people even when His name is never mentioned. The Heart of It
This month we're asking one of the biggest questions a person can ask. Where do "right" and "wrong" even come from? The answer starts on page one of the Bible. When God finished making the world, He looked at all of it and said it was "very good" (). That little word good matters more than we might think. Before there was a single rule written down, there was already such a thing as good. That's because God Himself is good, and everything He made flowed out of His goodness. Right and wrong aren't ideas humans invented later, like the rules of a board game. They come from the character of the God who made all things.
That's why, deep down, everyone everywhere feels that some things really are wrong. Being cruel is wrong. So is lying and stealing. And some things really are right. Being kind is right. So is being brave and honest. We didn't make that up. We discovered it, because we live in the world a good God made. When you feel that flash inside that says "that's not fair!" you're feeling a fingerprint of your Maker. Sin later broke and twisted the world. But it never erased the goodness God built into it. This week we'll learn something wonderful. Knowing right from wrong is one of the clearest signs that there really is a good God who made us and loves us.
Around the Table
When God finished making the world, He said it was "very good"! Good is real because God is good.
Let's do it: Name three good things God made (a puppy? a hug? a sunset?) and say together, "Thank You, good God!"
Right and wrong aren't just things grown-ups made up. They come from God, who is good. That's why everyone, everywhere, can tell that cruelty is wrong.
Let's talk: What's something you know is wrong even though no one ever had to teach you?
Goodness comes from God's own character. So right and wrong are real and unchanging. They aren't just opinions that shift from person to person or country to country.
Let's go deeper: Some people say "right and wrong are just what each person decides." How does push back on that idea?

Imagine a brand-new kid moved here from across the world. They never heard a single one of our rules. Would they still know it's wrong to be mean? Why do you think that is?
🛡️ Defending the Faith
Someone might say that good is just whatever people invented. We can kindly answer that a real "good" had to exist before anyone could invent rules about it. And that goodness comes from the God who made everything (). We share this gently, "with gentleness and respect" (). We're not trying to win an argument. We just want to point a friend to a good Maker.

The "moral argument" is one of the most powerful and kid-friendly cases for God. If real moral law exists, and not just opinions, then there must be a moral Law-giver behind it. Your children already feel this every time they cry "unfair!" Your job this week is to help them connect that built-in sense to its source. That source is God's good character revealed in Scripture. Resist the modern lie that values are merely "what works for me." Instead, model a home where goodness is something we receive and submit to, not something we invent. When you discipline, don't just say "because I said so." Point past yourself to the unchanging goodness of God.

Let's Pray Together
"Father, You are good. Everything You made was good. Help our family love what is truly good, because we love You. Show us where right and wrong come from. In Jesus' name, amen."
Good is real, because God is good. And He made a world that was very good.
