📖 Bible-in-a-Year (optional)

Today's reading: Revelation 16–18

Reading the whole Bible in a year — do this when you have extra time. (Around Day 364 of 365 — God's justice and the fall of Babylon.)

The Heart of It

Today we hold two verses side by side. Together they become a commissioning for our family. Jesus' last promise in the Bible is short and sure. He says, "Yes, I am coming soon." That changes everything about how we wait. We are not killing time until He returns. We are on mission until He returns. And what is that mission? It is the very thing Jesus told His followers when the church began. It is what we memorized in week one of this month. "Go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Do you see how the whole year has been pointing right here? We started in the beginning with God the Creator. Now we end with God the Coming King. He sends us out between His two comings to make disciples. This is not a job only for missionaries or pastors. It is the assignment of every family that follows Jesus. Right now, in our home, on our street, with the people God puts in front of us, we get to go and tell until He comes. And the One who sends us does not send us alone. He says, "Surely I am with you always." The Great Commission and the great promise are stitched together. We go because He is with us, and until He comes.

Around the Table

Littles 3–6

Jesus is coming back. Until then, He gives us a job. We get to go tell people that He loves them! And He is always with us.

Let's do it: March in place like you are going somewhere. Then say, "Go and tell! Jesus is with me!"

Middles 7–9

The Great Commission is a job for our whole family. We get to help people become followers of Jesus right where we live.

Let's talk: What is one way our family could "go and tell" someone about Jesus this week?

Older 10–13

Jesus sends us out between His first and second comings. The mission runs to the very end of the age, and His presence is what powers it ().

Let's go deeper: If you really believe Jesus is "coming soon," how should that change what you do with your time and your friendships?

💬 Conversation Starter

Imagine our family got a special "mission badge" tonight. What name would you give our team? And what should our first mission be this week?

🛡️ Defending the Faith

The promise "I am coming soon" has fueled the church's hope and mission for two thousand years, and it has never faded (; ). When Jesus says "soon," He means for certain, and at any moment. The wait is not God being slow. It is God being kind. He is giving more thirsty people time to come before the door closes.

For Dad · Go Deeper

Tonight is, in a real sense, your family's commissioning service. You have spent a year teaching. Now comes the sending. The Great Commission was never a program. It was Jesus handing His own mission to ordinary people and promising His presence to carry it (). Your highest calling as a father is not merely to raise good kids. It is to raise disciples who make disciples, sent ones who know the King is coming. Cast that vision over them tonight. Name each child and pray that they will go and tell, near and far, all their days. And remember the order. They go because they are loved and because He is with them, not to earn anything. Obedience flows from being held.

Let's Pray Together

"Lord Jesus, You said You are coming soon. Even so, come! Until then, send our family out to go and make disciples. Remind us every day that You are with us always. Make us faithful tellers of Your good news. In Jesus' name, amen."

Carry It With You

Jesus is coming soon. So we go and tell, right here, with Him beside us, until He comes.
